Covid-19 TerraCycle PickUp Policy

As a division of TerraCycle, we are still operational and able to fulfill your online orders.

However, due to the current stay-at-home order, we’ve suspended all in-person pickups for the time being. We would like to request that you hold onto your bags until the stay-at-home order has been lifted.


If this is not an option for you, please get in touch with us at pickup@terracycle.com to speak with our team on possible solutions. 

I DON’T LIVE IN THE GREATER PHILADELPHIA REGION. CAN I STILL USE TERRACYCLE PICKUP?

TerraCycle PickUp is our newest initiative to help residents and businesses recycle more of everything. At the moment, the pilot program is trialling in the Greater Philadelphia area, including most zip codes in:

• Montgomery County

• Bucks County

• Delaware County

• Mercer County

• Philadelphia County

• Burlington County

• Camden County

If you are located in one of these counties, please join the pilot to start recycling everything.

While the TerraCycle PickUp program works to expand, those outside of the pilot counties can still recycle everything and reduce their impacts through our other groundbreaking solutions. Please explore our Zero Waste Box™ system, our range of brand-sponsored National Recycling Programs, and the Loop shopping platform, and keep checking back here for updates on new opportunities to join us on our mission to eliminate waste.

DO I NEED TO SIGN UP FOR MEMBERSHIP OR A CONTRACT?

No, there is no need to sign up for membership or enter into any contractual obligation to recycle with TerraCycle PickUp, and there are no ongoing fees associated with our platform. 

TerraCycle PickUp operates as an à la carte service, based on what you want to recycle. You pay per solution and may participate in the program as often or infrequently as you wish.

I NEED TO EDIT, CANCEL, OR RETURN MY ORDER. HOW CAN I DO THIS?

Customers can request a cancellation before the order is shipped by contacting pickup@terracycle.com. As orders typically ship within 1–2 business days, we cannot guarantee your order can be canceled before it ships.

Once an order has shipped, you can request a return or refund within 10 days from the date of purchase by contacting pickup@terracycle.com. Returned bags must be shipped back to TerraCycle PickUp in the original packaging, at your own cost. 

Please note: Recycling bags are customized at the time of each order for each order. Once TerraCycle PickUp receives the return, the credit card used for the purchase will be refunded $3 less than the cost of the bag to account for processing fees.

HOW DO I CORRECT A DELIVERY ADDRESS AFTER I HAVE SCHEDULED A PICKUP?

Delivery addresses may be edited until 3 p.m. Eastern Standard Time the day before your scheduled pickup by reaching out to our Customer Support team at pickup@terracycle.com.

Please understand that each day’s schedule is based on a pre-planned route to offer the most efficient service. Once our driver has left for your pickup, the address can no longer be changed.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A SCHEDULED PICKUP IS NOT TAKING PLACE?

If for any reason we are unable to complete your scheduled pick up, our Customer Support team will be in touch to reschedule as soon as possible.

To minimize interruptions, we recommend scheduling your service on a different day from your local municipal waste collection. Please include in your pickup request a brief description of where our driver can find your bags. Finally, if our driver experiences any significant delays along his route, our customer service team will notify you in advance.

I PARTICIPATE IN A FREE NATIONAL RECYCLING PROGRAM. WHY DOES TERRACYCLE PICKUP COST MONEY WHEN MANY OF THE TERRACYCLE NATIONAL RECYCLING PROGRAMS DO NOT?

The cost of recycling can be broken down into two main parts: transportation and the recycling process itself. In public recycling, your taxes pay for curbside pickup, transportation to the plant, sorting, and recycling. 

With National Recycling Programs, the sponsoring brands and retailers pay for these expenses. To participate in one of these programs, simply sign up for free at TerraCycle.com and start collecting. 

However, we do not have a free National Recycling Program available for every item. Our other recycling options give you the power to take matters into your own hands and recycle everything.

Inspired by the Zero Waste Box™ system, the first comprehensive recycling solution for everything not accepted by public programs, TerraCycle PickUp is designed to be an all-in-one solution mimicking curbside systems with the added benefit of convenient pickup on your schedule; to achieve this, it comes at a cost to end-users.

We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause. We are taking extra precautions to keep our staff safe; that includes our warehouse personnel who come in close contact with returned materials.
